After installing the SAP Enterprise Portal only the default user management configuration will be active and in most cases you will need to make changes to this configuration in order to adapt it to your infrastructure.
In order to change the data source settings open the user management configuration
(System Configuration -> System Administration -> UM Configuration).
The tab Data Sources lets you choose a data source from a list of pre-configured adapters.
